I fully support the proposed building of units on these two sites

It is absolutely crucial that we have a telecommunication tower in St.Leonards. My phone is on π a good deal of the time, and at best I have one bar only and have to walk to different spots in the house to get any reception, as the only form of communication it is imperative that we have 4G. In the holiday season it is horrendous, having no service at all.
This is so necessary to this area. For the safety of the public
Elderly and new families in what has become such a built up area.
Would be very grateful
Thankyou.
I have no objection to the concept of this development, but typically the end result is a barren place with no trees or people facilities.
Can CoGG ensure that:
- trees are required to be planted and nurtured so that the development blends in with a regional environment
- people facilities are provided such as some open space.
Regards, Peter Ellenby
I know this area is now marked for higher density development. The problem I have with this design, like all the others being applied for in this area by Mr or Ms Planning & Design. The black monoliths overshadow and overlook the neighbourhood. The onsite parking design in these places requires multi point turns to shuffle cars in and out of carports & garages. Most have winders on the stairs which are both dangerous to navigate and difficult to move furniture up and down. The so-called provision of a diverse range of dwellings is ignored as so many of the new dwellings being proposed are 3 br the most common dwelling in the area already. The construction period of some that are in the erection stage now are unsafe worksites that impact the surrounds by blocking footpaths, neighbours driveways, leaving trails of mud down roads and spilling building waste, materials and equipment out into the surrounds. If the council was really interested in the welfare and growth of the neighbourhood they could show a little more care for the occupants and less for the developers.
Too many townhouses are being crammed into the area, likely causing parking issues. The council is expected to approve these developments, driven by the potential for increased revenue for Corio Council, fueled by greedy, money-hungry developers.
The application gives no details of the purpose or value of this development to the community or The impact to environment. 95 units seems excessive. I am opposed to a storage facility if that is the plan.
The removal of native vegetation should be reconsidered as the landscape plan is limited. Basically concreting beautiful farmland and adding the odd plant!
Not opposed to development but would be great to know the purpose of this development so close to town.
Before decisions are made the local community should benefit from any development. It should not have negative impact on infrastructure demands.
Dr Jon O'Connor is a well respected vet and having the Clinic open until 2pm Saturday would be very convenient for his clients. Allowing a 3rd veterinarian to practice at the clinic now Dr O'Connor's no longer full time would be beneficial, as would allowing the 3 parking spaces to be used by staff. Geelong West is very fortunate to have this Veterinary Clinic which is clean, modern and well appointed with caring staff, so I hope Council will approve this application.
Seems like a reasonable use for this area. Pool next door. Golf course and BMX track. And close to river walk and bike track. New offices on the river compliment the local ecosystem. itβs a area being repurposed moving out the old usages.
Given this street includes residential homes we have concerns about the level of noise early and late during the day with the roller door being open.
A lot of cars are already parking on the street which is damaging the sidewalk. This would significantly increase with this proposal. This is a high traffic area.
I object to this application for several reasons as stated below:
1. Two shared bathrooms are not sufficient for 10 units.
2. Most workers will not be undertaking work on the actual rural property but at sites elsewhere. As such the owners of this property could secure or build accommodation close to these other sites in urban areas, and still add 'to the community' as stated in the application.
3. Is not in the spirit of the Bellarine Distinctive Area and Landscapes in preserving and retaining productive rural land between our townships, with increased built form.
I wish to object to the proposed development on the grounds that this will cause more traffic and congestion on this corner. I can also foresee car parking on and around this area becoming an issue with regard to visitors etc. due to the proposed 4 units. I have lived here for 15 years and have seen the increase in the amount of street parking, due to many developments already along this Crescent. It makes safe passage along here sometimes difficult already with visibility lowered due to large volume of parked vehicles and the fact that it is a Crescent .
I am a local to the area and object to this application for a permit for the above mentioned application. I don't think it's appropriate for the residential area to have an exclusive place of worship that will incur high traffic to this residential site. This area is already very busy during the week for community access to the primary school and kindergarten, but this is a valued and inclusive contribution to the needs of our community. Adding to this high level of traffic for something that isn't contributing to the Highton community doesn't level out the negative impact this proposal would bring; early Sunday morning traffic, decreasing the value of surrounding properties, and leaving a residential property vacant at times outside of worship. There are already other places and properties dedicated to this purpose. This property should be kept for residential purposes as intended, especially at a time when the community need is better access to housing solutions.
I have been greatly enjoying walking around swan bay over the summer months and I have researched the importance of wetlands to all species from the smallest right through to humans. Wetlands, birds and water quality are incredibly sensitive to pollution and disruption by humans nearby. It is very grim to risk this renowned wetland. The cost to nature, which supports human life, without which we could not exist is unwise. The effects will be felt by the wetland and its inhabitants as itβs a sensitive ecosystem. I have been reading about the effects wetland destruction has had on Norfolk Islandβs Emily bay. That should be a lesson to us all on the importance of wetlands. We are all interconnected and everything has to go somewhere. We canβt risk water quality effects and bird migration patterns and I think we need to consider our future generations and the environment we owe it to them to leave behind when we are gone.
We must do all we can to protect this fragile RAMSAR wetland and the native vegetation and landscape of the Bellarine Peninsula. There is already much building and residential development in the area nearby. Further escalating development in this area will be detrimental to this beautiful and environmentally significant area. Please think about who this development will actually benefit....the environment and people who will be living in this low cost accommodation....or the developers.
These Ramsar wetlands should not be encroached on. The intended buildings will do nothing for the health of the fragile ecosystems in the area or for the poor people who may end up living in such a challenging environment.
This area should not be developed further. It is imperative that we protect the very few wild areas left on the Bellarine Peninsula. Swan Bay is a RAMSAR site and it provides an internationally important refuge for local and migratory birds. The bay and its surrounding saltmarsh MUST be preserved in a natural state. Saltmarsh is one of the most important ecosystems to protect if we are to have any chance at mitigating the effects of climate change. It is a huge carbon sink and helps protect our coastline from rising sea levels and storm events. It also filters pollution, acts as a fish nursery and provides habitat for the critically endangered orange bellied parrot. Please do not allow this development to go ahead - the effects on the natural environment will be disastrous.
The edge of a RAMSAR site is an inappropriate place for expanded settlement. Humans bring predatory pets that create disturbances and lower habitat quality. Ecological studies have shown that threatening stimuli have a deleterious impact on wildlife, significantly affecting birds and other vulnerable coastal species. Increasing water activities and road traffic could also have a detrimental impact on local ecologies and amenities. With few wild places left on the Bellarine, the City of Greater Geelong needs to be vigilant and restrict unnecessary development.
Please do not allow permanent dwellings to be erected in this fragile environment. RAMSAR wetlands are part of what makes the Bellarine Peninsula so unique and special. If they are not protected properly, with every possible measure made to sustain the delicate ecological balance, the consequences could be dire. We are in a vitally important moment here - any such development sets a dangerous precedent for other delicate parts of our local ecosystem to be developed too, losing the very essence of what makes this place so special. Please protect our environment for future generations and for the rich biodiversity it holds.
I learned recently via Bellarine Land Care that wetlands are the most efficient carbon sinks on earth. Wetlands hold 30% of all land- based carbon β twice the amount than all the world's forests combined. Fragile RAMSAR ecosystems, like Swan Bay, are key to combatting the ravages of the climate emergency. Do not allow expanded use of land for permanent dwellings.
Please look after this beautiful area of the Bellarine Peninsula. Swan Bay needs to be in great condition to preserve our RAMSAR obligations.
Swan Bay is beautiful and should be left for all to enjoy as well as protecting the environment.
We need to protect our environment and wildlife and take care not to destroy the Bellarine
Swan Bay is a beautiful place where you can see a huge flock of birds take refuge almost everyday.
It's protection is key to the ecosystems that thrive there. If we do not treat such places with the respect they deserve, the effects will be disastrous to the wildlife and plantlife that currently reside in the bay.
Our fight against global warming is to partially limit/hopefully end the harmful practices we as humans have in place and the other part is to simply protect the beautiful nature that is still intact and probably plays a bigger role than we can imagine.
Buildings and other human made structures do not have a place in Swan Bay.
Please be mindful of restrained development. This area is a beautiful sanctuary for wildlife. We can not continue to develop for $$$ and destroy the beautiful surroundings that attract people to live here. Stand up for the environment say no to unnecessary development. Please
This is pristine Swan Bay.
Home and refuge to hundreds of species of birds, marine life and plants.
A RAMSAR listed wetland of international significance.
This is not an area which is suited for holiday cabins.
Please ensure the protection of this fragile ecosystem. This amendment should not be approved by the City of Greater Geelong.
