Modification to consent no. 10.2006.769.1 condition no. 29 & 36 to allow for dual occupancies and secondary dwellings on a rural community title

With a housing crisis in our region this is great to see amendments being made to increase our rural density. Landshare community's also are badly in need of more people to help with efforts to maintain and restore our precious ecologies so this seems like a win for everyone.

Why has work on this site been going a couple of months already, and only now do we get notification of the DA? Other sites in town have also only publicised a DA after significant work has progressed.

PCA Demolition of Existing Dwelling and Shed and Construction of New Dwelling House and Swimming Pool

The location of this swimming pool is very close to the boundary
It is also right in front of the bedrooms of five properties established in a Kingsley lane
That could create a noise problem for nearby neighbours

This is yet another gross overdevelopment in Marvel st
A roof top open space could be used for entertainment causing excessive noise for neighbours
Marvel st has an oversupply of tourist accommodation
Bring a 3 storey building above 2 basement levels makes it 5 storey building exceeding the height limit

Strata Subdivision of One (1) Additional Dwelling to Existing Multi-Dwelling Housing

I am against any more building on Bangalow Road, we are already dealing with dangerous traffic issues. The likelihood of more severe weather events and already too much development for this town (which is built on a swamp) means we are at risk of flooding, and traffic jams which prevent evacuation.

S4.55 to Correct Error relating to Quantum of Contributions Payable for Stage 8 Tallowood Ridge Estate Subdivision

I am concerned that this development will increase traffic and flood risk. The Feb 28 flood impacted our neighbourhood and left it stranded because the waters couldn’t escape the area. More concrete driveways and rooftops will exacerbate this problem. Without improved drainage the water will not be able to flow out to the river. Also there are no facilities In The area for an increased population such as shops and community halls or meeting places. This should be addressed before more housing is approved. Many thanks,

Nell

S4.55 to Modify Development Consent to Alter the Insect Screening Requirement

Underground parking should not be permitted as Byron continually floods during heavy rain. These overdeveloped sites will cause future problems. ie, traffic, flooding and overcrowding.

Multiple Occupancy consisting of Fourteen (14) Dwelling Sites, Associated Infrastructure, Land Management and Environmental Enhancement including Removal of Three (3) Trees

As a resident of Eureka i feel that a development of such large scale will destroy the "rural" lifestyle and impact the people living in vicinity.

Eureka doesn't need a "urban" suburban style development as yet. I think we should not be approving so many dewellings.

Rural and farm developments should only be considered. These large scale developments will destroy the natives (flora and fauna) and will increase traffic flow.

Eureka does not have the roads not the infrastructure to support such developments. I oppose to the number of dewellings considered for development.

Multi-dwelling Housing comprising Four (4) Dwellings in Two (2) Buildings

We need to prevent any building being built too close and too much with high density as not to impact our existing development in transition from a rural setting to suddenly have a lot of buildings in your face.

The demolition of this building and the proposed development is not is total overdevelopment
There is already a massive building next door and across the road
We already have an over supply of accommodation in our area
We do not need more shops or retail premises
We have so many empty shops as it us we don’t need more

Subdivision to create One Hundred and Forty-Five (145) Residential Lots, One (1) Medium Density Lots, Two (2) Lifestyle Lots, Two (2) Public Reserve Lots, Associated Roads and other Infrastructure over Seven (7) Stages

To whom it may concern
I’m a resident of bayside Brunswick Heads I’m a-posed to the the development
DA No 10.2021.575.1 for the following reasons
Will create unprecedented traffic congestion
Will have a devastating impact on wildlife with the loss of 230 trees
Will over populate the Brunswick Heads town that already struggles in peak seasons

Alterations and Additions to a Dwelling to form a Dual Occupancy, Swimming Pool and Associated Fencing

This combination of architect/developer are responsible for the other development on this block.
I note one of the council objectives is

1. To ensure that residential development is designed to minimise impacts on solar access and privacy on adjoining properties, and on the views from adjacent existing buildings.
2. To ensure that the occupants of the building or buildings will enjoy the optimum use of winter sunlight and summer shade

The compliance on this other development is laughable. I doubt that this development will be any different.

Alterations and Additions to a Dwelling to form a Dual Occupancy, Swimming Pool and Associated Fencing

WeI have been severely affected by the development at the back of this block. We are severely overshadowed by the two storey monstrosity 90cm from our boundary. Six months of unending noise and lack of privacy, illegal removal of a very large lilli pilli. This all despite my formal objections. We are now faced with detail like rubbish bins and air conditioner units only metres from our veranda. There appears to be no respect for the original bungalows and cottagesthat are supposed to form the heritage listed area.
I have not had any feedback from my previous objections so I’m feeling somewhat defeated and that it is pointless to object. Developers Win !!!
Nevertheless I will submit formal objections to the proposal

Demolition of Existing Dwelling House and Construct Multi-dwelling Housing comprising Six (6) Dwellings

I am concerned that Paterson street will be become a future ghetto with all the overdevelopment that is happening at this end of the street. Concrete jungle and little boxes that are not suited to living in just airbnb.

Alterations and Additions to a Dwelling to form a Dual Occupancy, Swimming Pool and Associated Fencing

I am greatly disappointed that council might approve another two storey development in the heritage area of old Byron Bay.
When I and others built our houses about seven years ago we were advised by local designers that a two storey was next to impossible to get through Council.
I accepted this and appreciated the policy as it has preserved a unique country townscape.
Now the free-for-all of two storey mega houses designed for the Air B n B market is irrevocably tipping Byron away from its heritage.

Dear Byron Council,

Byron Bay can not hold any more tourists for the following reasons -

- I am seeing more roadkill on my street due to increased traffic to and from holiday retreats

- more trash around the streets since the increase in tourists that don’t care as much about the town as locals do

- There is not enough parking space at ANY of the beaches for more cars to be invited into the area

- Cars are parking on nature strips now, destroying them

- there is not enough space in restaurants and bars for locals to enjoy as they are all booked out and have long lines

Continuing to develop more and more holiday accomodation is unsustainable and destroying the town. The council needs to put a cap on all holiday development.

Swimming Pool

Hello Byron Council,
Regarding swimming pool DA's.
Isn't it time to put a halt to any new builds of swimming pools? Water is so precious, we need it for drinking - humans and animals; agriculture; fighting fires etc. We need water for so many things before it should be used to fill private swimming pools.
Isn't it time for a moratorium on all new builds of swimming pools? We have a fabulous pool in Mullum, beaches galore.
Is this something that can be raised at Council?

Proposed Mixed Use Development Comprising Eco Tourism Facilities, Recreational Facilities, Environmental Facility, Agricultural Produce Industries and Associated Retail Outlets, Garden Centre with Restaurant/Cafe

Bangalow is a rural village and its value to residents and visitors will only increase as it pulls miles ahead because of less concious areas allowing industrial and retail developments that change that valuable and exclusive atmosphere. Increase industrial transport alone will alter the increasingly valuable village feel. Please consider the rate payers and those that have chosen Bangalow to raise families and spent their Iives in with a community valued for its heart and not it economic potential.
