I've always admired this building, and it is shocking to hear of this plan to destroy a well maintained and beautiful historic home. It has stood proud as a modest but tasteful landmark in its location for a hundred years. To replace such a substantial residential building with a development of this kind will be a detriment to the area.

I live and work in the area and understand the potential of the site for high density development. However, I am opposed to the demolition of the existing building simply because of the fact that it is such a well-maintained character home situated in an area of Vincent rich with historical culture. Although this kind of architecture is not considered rare, they are under threat due to the amount of inner-city developments happening especially on Vincent Street. Considering this house is situated on the part of Vincent st that is still relatively intact, I believe preservation of this building will positively contribute to the overall streetscape of the area.

This is a landmark building. Being close to the intersection and opposite a landscaped park, it is seen by many drivers and is contributing to the streetscape.

It is hard to imagine that any replacement will match in any way this beautiful, craftsman house.

This property is located on a prominent intersection, a gateway where a large number of Perth residents travel through on their daily commute.
Countless people sit in traffic here each day, admiring this character property which has stood the test of time and stands as a reminder of the history and heritage of our city of Perth.
You only need to look diagonally across the intersection to 201 Vincent St to see a development that must have seemed like a good idea at the time, but one could argue now is not such a great result.

We concur with other comments, the ongoing demolition of Federation or character homes in our neighbour, community and city is of concern. Surely the definition of a community is a mix of housing options and designs, just the same as a community is defined by a mix of demographics - singles, families with children, families without, empty nesters etc.?
The fact this home is on Vincent Street which is a main or arterial road should not mean those roads are filled with multi storey, high density buildings which are invariably harsh in their façade. Surely main roads are the "front yards" or "front door" to our neighbourhood therefore why create an environment of new, multi storey buildings with minimal gardens which in reality do not reflect the actual style and heritage of the rest of the neighbourhood? In our homes we always give the best impression first yet our councils and town planners allow the homes on arterial roads to be demolished thereby defacing or devaluing the entry points to our neighbourhoods.
I urge the City of Vincent to closely examine this application and consider the overall image of the City. I remind you one of the 4 corners of the City emblem is heritage. When will the city take a stand for that emblem and it's significance?
Thank you.

I currently live at this address and to think it could be knocked down for generic apartments is disheartening. This home has been here for at least 130 years! It was here when my father learnt to swim across the road some 50years ago and it brings him and many others joy to see something still standing from the past. The home is full of character and meets contemporary needs despite its age. It truly is a joy to live in and call home - as I'm sure many of the previous tenants could vouch for also. Please don't knock it down.
