This building is more than bricks and mortar - demolishing it for flats would be an irreversible loss. There are better options. Restoration and adaptive reuse can preserve its heritage while allowing for modern use.

Demolition of this house to build flats is not the only way to proceed. There are other developments nearby to the south in the same block where substantial development has happened at the rear of the property which have retained the existing brick residence at the front.
