In view of the site being used as an entertainment venue, we trust the developers/occupants will be mindful of the noise implications and that the council will set appropriate restrictions.
Our apartment in the Proximity complex faces the proposed area. Car hoons that use the adjacent carpark already interfere with our standard of living, as did Pilpel patrons when it operated.
We can only imagine those standards of living slipping further with the addition of music and intoxicated patrons. We are not against progress but become concerned when that progress is allowed to cause a nuisance for the residents nearby.
I remind council the Mon Komo nightclub that was in operation not too long ago is a precedent in demonstrating how mismanagement of unruly crowds causes a disruption to the neighbourhood. We lived in Mon Komo at the time and witnessed fights, and intoxicated mobs yelling their way down the street at all hours. Perhaps council can check with the police as they attended on several occasions.
