Subject: Submission – Objection to Development Application DA-2026-44

To Mackay Regional Council,

I wish to lodge a formal submission objecting to Development Application DA-2026-44 for a Food and Drink Outlet at 230 Anzac Avenue, Marian.

My concerns relate to the planning impacts this development may have on the surrounding area:

Litter and waste – Fast-food outlets massively increase litter in nearby streets, parks and waterways.

Traffic and road safety – A drive-through fast-food outlet on Anzac Avenue may significantly increase vehicle movements, potentially creating congestion and safety risks for local residents, pedestrians and cyclists.

Noise impacts – Extended operating hours and drive-through traffic could generate noise late into the evening and early morning, negatively affecting nearby residential amenity.

Light pollution – A typical fast-food restaurant includes illuminated signage, car park lighting and drive-through lighting which may affect surrounding properties.

Impact on neighbourhood character – A high-traffic commercial fast-food outlet may not be compatible with the surrounding residential character of Marian.

For these reasons I request that Mackay Regional Council carefully consider the impacts of this development and refuse the application on behalf of the local community.

Thank you for considering this submission.
