Airbnb guests (yeah they're already here without this approval) have caused disturbances to the neighbourhood over the past 2 weekends with hooning cars and exhibiting anti-social behaviours. This has caused great concerns with the neighbourhood primarily consists of young families including mine.

Despite the application still being under consideration and approval not yet having been granted, there have already been several issues associated with the use of the property as a short-term accommodation. These issues include excessive noise at various times over the weekends, as well as significant parking concerns caused by large groups staying at the residence.

The volume of visitors and vehicles has resulted in congestion along the street, reduced access for neighbouring properties, and disruption to the quiet enjoyment of the area. These impacts are inconsistent with the current residential zoning and have been occurring prior to any formal approval being issued.

The fact that these issues are already evident at this early stage raises serious concerns about the potential escalation of amenity impacts should approval be granted.

I oppose the proposed Airbnb in our residential area, as we are already experiencing ongoing problems with limited parking. Short-term rentals tend to increase traffic, strain on-street parking, and bring a constant turnover of visitors who are unfamiliar with local expectations, which often results in late-night disturbances, we have already experienced this from this property despite the approval not being granted as the owner has already started renting the property as a short stay without approval.

Our neighborhood is primarily made up of long-term residents who value safety, stability, and a quiet living environment. Introducing an Airbnb will inevitably worsen existing issues and negatively impact current residents’ quality of life, rather than supporting the character and cohesion of our community.

The owners non-compliance with planning regulations further adds concern that he will allow all kinds of antisocial and antilawful behaviour to enhance his profits without any care for shire rules or local residents.

Despite the application not yet being approved, the property has already commenced operating as short-term accommodation (Airbnb). In the approximately three weeks since operations began, police have attended the property on multiple occasions, including during two separate weeks, in response to reported antisocial behaviour occurring at various times of the day and night.

These incidents have included alcohol fuelled loud gatherings extending into the street, physical altercations, and a serious traffic-related incident in which a vehicle was driven into a neighbouring property’s front yard following a collision. These matters have had a significant and immediate impact on local amenity and residents’ sense of safety.

The surrounding neighbourhood is predominantly comprised of long-term residents who value a stable, safe, and quiet residential environment. The introduction of short-term accommodation at this location has demonstrably disrupted that environment and, based on recent experience, is likely to further exacerbate noise, safety, and amenity issues rather than support the existing residential character of the area.

Of additional concern is that the use has commenced prior to planning approval being granted. This non-compliance raises legitimate questions regarding the ongoing management of the property and ability to ensure the use operates in accordance with applicable planning controls, local laws, and community expectations.

For these reasons, the proposal is considered incompatible with the amenity, character, and reasonable expectations of the surrounding residential area and we ask that it be denied change of use status.
