I am writing to oppose the proposed installation of a synthetic field at Callan Park. Our family are all 1”active members of Balmain football club and I appreciate the frustration when games get cancelled due to the weather but I don’t believe that’s enough reason to install a plastic field so close to the water. There is so much evidence that confirms the spread of microplastics and how bad this is for the environment. I ask the council to listen to the community and scientific evidence and look for alternative ways to improve the field on natural ways. Please. We owe it to our beautiful country, our birds and native wildlife and our kids to make the right decision here.
