I wish to comment on the proposed reduction in visitor car parking spaces. Broadway is a narrow street that already experiences significant on-street parking pressure due to the high number of existing units & townhouses. Vehicles regularly park along both sides of the street, which limits passing opportunities and reduces overall traffic flow.
The proposed reduction in visitor parking is likely to increase reliance on on-street parking, further exacerbating existing congestion and potentially impacting access for residents, visitors, and service or emergency vehicles. Given the constrained nature of Broadway and the cumulative effect of surrounding developments, I am concerned that the reduced parking provision is not appropriate for this location.
I respectfully request that Council give careful consideration to the existing parking conditions on Broadway and require adequate on-site visitor parking to minimise adverse impacts on the local street network.
