Better utilisation of large blocks is a good idea. With these developments, consideration should be enforced to include adequate off-street vehicular housing, including, not just cars that could result 1 car per bedroom and 2 for the master, a caravan, boat, box trailer, jet ski. Rembering that our roads and streets are already very congested and kerbs full.
