Thanks heaps Brisbane City Council. This will be the first four story building ever built in Bulimba, Balmoral or Hawthorne - and its smack in the middle of a low-density residential area where there are not even apartments, just houses. And it is not in the commercial precinct of Oxford Street where council recently fought hard to reject an application for a four-story build, nor is it on Hawthorne Road, Wynnum Road, or Riding Road where there is at least some medium level of development. No, this is in the quiet backstreets of Bulimba, near the golf course and surrounded by once nice homes that will now be overshadowed, loose their privacy, light and amenity, and look up at an ugly brown brick building, which in fact is pretty similar to what it looks like now. No community consultation was done, no feedback was sought, it is just done! This is the all mighty, all knowing, all powerful BCC putting money ahead of common sense, and business before people. Less beds are going be available too, what a great decision.
