I support this proposal. Shop top housing is a brilliant way to boost density and tackle Sydney’s housing crisis. Bringing more residents to Leichhardt will also breathe new life into Norton St.

Shop top housing not new but shop owners do not live above shop anymore. Parramatta Rd 2 storey shop top housing. We need public space (not carparks) if we are to increase density and viability of Shops.

Also focus on foottraffic and public transport don't mix commuter cyclists with Pedestrians.

We need bike parking and charging.

This is exactly the sort of development that should be encouraged in the area and I fully support the proposal.

My family has lived in the area for generations since emigrating from Italy. It is my hope that increasing housing diversity and increasing housing affordability in the area will allow my children and grandchildren to grow up close to extended family and remain connected to their community.

Norton Street, with its walkable amenities and access to public transport, is the perfect place to increase density and more developments like this should be encouraged.

I am in full support of this submission & this project going ahead. It will be a massive plus to the heritage of the area. This particular building is owned by Gina one of the longest living members of the Italian Community of not only Leichhardt but this whole area.
Gina came to Leichhardt in 1952 & has been here ever since. She is I would think the longest living resident in Norton St.
She established her childrens store La Gardenia in 1973 and it still operates under her now.
Everyone knows and loves Gina & her family and she would never want to build anything detrimental to her surroundings.
I stopped by yesterday and she was explaining this development to me which she has put a lot of thought into. The 19th century facade is being reconstructed and the same shop “La Gardenia” will remain on the ground floor.
I feel this development will stand as an ode to the original Italian Community which seems to be slowly disappearing from Leichhardt.
It seems to be amazing project that will provide housing and community connection close to public transport and ammenities.

Buona Fortuna Gina

I support this development 100%
Norton Street has always been the hub of Leichhardt and this project will not only help increase housing diversity & affordability but also builds on community connection and that can only be good.
There should be more developments like this in this area.
