I strongly support this proposal for much needed housing, it is out on a paddock, minding its own business. It is low density - in line with the community's desired character. I grew up in Kiama, worked in Nowra several years and visit family there. This area should not be as costly as it is currently, there is no shortage of land. Housing is selling for much more than the cost to build it.
More housing will ease prices according to the research. People need somewhere to live, and our shortages are directly causing price rises and cost of living pressure, as well as poor social outcomes of people having to move away from their communities.
The alternative is to triple the height restrictions closer to town to allow more unit housing, and I would also welcome that instead. Denser urban areas have higher amenity, they are more livable. Perhaps the community would prefer this over the negative consequences of sprawl - traffic, environment, family isolation.
We cant have both.
